In a value of the type in which a valve body 10 seals on a sealing gasket 14, one of the cooperating sealing surfaces is provided with at least one rib there around. As shown, the valve body 10 is provided with three concentric ribs. The discharge passage, 20 is arranged to lie above the gasket when the valve is closed. The valve body may be surrounded by the closing spring 12 or as shown the body is hollow and receives the spring within the hollow.
