A matrix store served by row and column scanners serves to record data relative to subscribers lines on the one hand and exchange operators' positions and junctor circuits on the other hand, some rows of the matrix serving to record data relative to individually associated junctor circuits or operators' positions while other rows serve to record data relating to associated groups of subscribers such other rows having an individual storage element relating to each subscriber of the group and at least one extra element to record data relating to the group as a whole. Further rows of the matrix may be employed in the processing of push-button dialling signals as buffer stores, or may be used to record the numbers of frequently wanted subscribers. Data recorded for own-exchange junctor circuits comprises last look state, calling and called subscribers identities and classes of service, the junctor identity, and a sequence state for call establishment and supervision. Data collected for other-exchange junctors comprises last look state, calling subscriber and junctor identities, metering data and call sequence state. The matrix may be comprised of ferrite cores and a number of planes to give each element a multi bit capacity. The subscriber line groups are of such a size as to require the same average processing time per matrix row as for junctor circuits.
