Abstract
1,262,852. Fluid bearings. GAMET PRODUCTS Ltd. 6 March, 1969 [3 Jan., 1968], No. 368/68. Heading F2A. A hydrostatic journal bearing assembly having a shaft 8 and a housing intended for relative rotation has two sleeve members 9, 11 having frusto-conical surfaces removably secured to the shaft with a spacer member 10 located between them, an outer member 1 being provided having complementary frusto-conical surfaces 2 and 3 between which is a land 4, recesses 5 being provided to form hydrostatic bearing pads to which fluid is supplied under pressure, the clearance between the bearing surfaces being adjustable by changing the length of the axial spacer 10. The axial spacer 10 may be a sleeve of appropriate length or may be two sleeve elements which are in screwthreaded engagement (Fig. 10, not shown).
