Abstract
1,264,142. Indicative apparatus. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. Feb.5, 1969 [March 18, 1968; April 15, 1968(2)], No.6294/69. Heading G1J. [Also in Divisions G2 and G5] An arrangement for illuminating a dial plate 12 comprises alight guide 13, and a light source 14, the guide having a rear inclined side face 22 which diffusely reflects light from the source to illuminate the dial plate. Coloured filters mounted in a frame 15 may be arranged between the light source and the guide and the relative positions of the source and frame may be varied to change the colour of the light illuminating the dial. The frame 15 may be mounted on a shaft 16 pivotally mounted at 17 and which carries a pin 21 fitted into a cam slot in a disc 18 mounted on a shaft 19. On rotating the shaft 19, which for example may be the wavelength control shaft of a radio, the cam slot and pin coact to move shaft 16 and change the colour of the illuminating light. In another embodiment Fig.4 (not shown) the light guide is formed as a re-entrant prism having a first side face parallel to the dial plate, two end-faces each adjacent a light source, and two inclined diffusely reflective surfaces which reflect light from the sources through the first side face on to the dial plate.
