Abstract

1,270,707. Discharge lamps. GTE SYLVANIA Inc. 24 June, 1969 [24 June, 1968], No. 31942/69. Heading H1D. The base assembly of a U-shaped lamp-as described, a fluorescent lamp-includes a pair of lamp bases rigidly interconnected by a rod. As shown, each base 12 is notched at 22 to receive and co-operate with the grooved portions 24 of the rod 20. The rod may be secured to the bases either during the process of attaching the bases to the tube 4, when the cement employed flows around the ends of the rod 20, or by welding, riveting, or the use of an epoxy cement.
