Abstract

1,272,044. Magnetic heads. MULLARD Ltd. 22 Feb., 1971, No. 5088/71. Heading G5R. A magnetoresistive playback transducer includes a sensing element comprising a film 4 of magnetoresistive material and a biasing element comprising a film 1 of permanently magnetized magnetic material parallel with the sensing element 4 and separated therefrom by a non-magnetic spacer 3. The biasing element 1 may be deposited on an insulating substrate 2 which forms the substrate for an integrated circuit comprising the transducer and a transistor. The sensing element 4 may be covered by a non-magnetic electrically insulating layer.
