Abstract

1305167 Feeding sheets ETABS J J CARNAUD & FORGES DE BASSEINDRE 8 Dec 1971 [29 March 1970] 57005/71 Heading B8R A sheet feeding cylinder, e.g. for feeding tin plate to a coating, varnishing or printing machine, has an axially extending cavity 13 housing a main shaft 14 rockable about its axis by control means located beyond an end of the cylinder e.g. by a cam and follower mechanism 18, at least one stop 30 and at least one gripper 35 being secured to an auxiliary shaft 20 parallel to the main shaft and housed in said cavity the auxiliary shaft being rocked by linkage 24, 25, 26 connecting it to the main shaft so as to move the stop and gripper into a sheet feed path such that a sheet fed to the cylinder along the path is registered thereby. Two grippers may be provided for each stop, the latter being adjustably mounted. Lever 24 may be longer than lever 25 so that shaft 20 rocks more than shaft 14. In operation, a sheet 41 is pushed against two stops 30 by a push rod 42 when the stops and grippers are raised from the periphery of the cylinder by the cam and follower mechanism and linkage, the stops, with the sheet in engagement therewith, being lowered again as the cylinder continues to rotate. The registered sheet is ultimately gripped between the grippers and stops.
