Abstract

1374001 Cutting apparatus HENRY SIMON Ltd 5 April 1973 [27 April 1972] 19710/72 Heading B4B [Also in Division B6] A machine for converting sheet material blanks into cases comprises a plurality of creasing heads mounted on shafts 10, 11, Fig. 2, feed rollers on shafts 12, 13 and slotting heads on shafts 14, 15, each head on the shafts 10, 11, 14 or 15 being in alignment with one on the other three shafts, and means is provided for axially adjusting all such heads and rollers axially along the shafts, except for one fixed head or roller on each shaft. The adjustment means comprises yoke plates such as 16e, 18e mounted on shafts 20, 21, positioned between members 17, 19 secured to the heads, and each upper plate being driven by a separate motor through a lead screw 22 linked to a lead screw 25 for the lower plate. Mounted on each upper plate 16, Fig. 4, are switches 36. Associated with each plate 16 is a device 31, laterally adjustable by a chain 30 moved by a hand wheel, and carrying switch actuating members 33, 34. When it is required to adjust a set of heads along their shafts, the corresponding device 31 is moved to a new position, the member 34 actuating the switch 36 in such a way as to predetermine the direction in which the corresponding motor will rotate to move the plates 16, 18. The motors are all started and the plates moved until the switches 35 are actuated by the members 35 to stop the motors.
