Abstract

1389342 Rubber mixtures comprising an elastomer/additive granulate RHEIN-CHEMIE REINAU GmbH 4 May 1972 [11 May 1971] 20744/72 Headings C3C and C3E A process for incorporating an additive into a rubber mixture comprises adding the said additive in the form of a granulate containing a substantially saturated elastomer. The additive may be, e.g. a vulcanizing agent, expanding agent or antiaging compound. Specified elastomers are ethylene/vinyl acetate and ethylene/ propylene copolymers and polyisobutylene. Examples are given in which (a) a cube-shaped granulate comprising tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and zinc oleate is incorporated on a roll into a styrene/butadiene rubber containing silica; (b) a granulate comprising sodium bicarbonate and the other components of the granulate as in (a) is dispersed in a natural rubber compound containing vulcanizing agents, zinc oleate, factice, mineral-oil and calcium carbonate and the mixture is vulcanized to yield a porous vulcanizate; (c) a granulate containing sulphur and other components as in (a) is incorporated in a smoked sheets compound, which is then vulcanized.
