Abstract

1418832 Lock mechanism L C E MILLY 29 May 1973 [24 July 1972] 25328/73 Heading E2A A lock mechanism for a vehicle door has a casing 1 having an entry for a keeper and a boss 2, a lever 3 which is pivotally mounted on the boss 2 and a spring 10 which urges an end 4 of the lever 3 towards the entry so as to be engageable with the keeper. The lever 3 has a lug 11 which, when the mechanism is in a condition corresponding to the door being open, prevents a locking lever 13 from rocking and which, when the mechanism is in a condition corresponding to the door being closed, allows the lever 13 to rock. In use the engagement of end 5 of the keeper with the end 4 of the lever 3 causes the other end 9 thereof to compress the spring 10. The keeper is then locked in position by means (not shown). When the keeper is unlocked the energy stored in the spring assists in the disengagement of the lock mechanism and the keeper.
