Abstract

1423344 Luffing arm apparatus G H WEBB 12 Jan 1973 [26 Jan 1972] 3592/72 Heading B8H A portable hoist comprises a vertical pillar 1 mounted on a cross-member 5 extending between a pair of splayed legs 3 and pivotally supporting a boom 2 intermediate its ends. A screw and nut mechanism 8, 9 extends between one end of the boom and the base of the pillar to effect luffing movement of the boom and a lifting lug 18 is secured to the other end. The pillar is pivotally mounted to the legs 3 and is retained in a vertical position by a pin 7 engaging aligned holes in the pillar and a pair of plates 6. The pin also-secures the screw and nut mechanism to the pillar, such that its withdrawal enables the pillar and the boom to be pivoted into a collapsed position. (For Figure see next page.)
