Working - fluid supply; arrangement of bearings.-In an internal - combustion turbine, the charge is compressed by three compressors J past valves K<2> and pipes L into three valved combustion chambers A. The discharge valve a<3> of each combustion chamber is periodically opened by an eccentric 11<4> on the turbine shaft 11<7> to deliver the ignited charge to the nozzles F and the turbine F<2>. A spring-loaded sleeve valve a<4> effects a rapid release of the gases on starting. The compressor pistons K are reciprocated by a rotary cam I on the shaft H<8>, which may be connected directly to the shaft H<7> or geared therewith so as to rotate at twice the turbine speed, giving two explosions in each combustion chamber for one revolution of the turbine. The bearing H<1> is arranged outside the casing, and a diaphragm H<6> affords a thrust bearing for the shaft H'. The space between the diaphragm H<6> and a plug H<5> provides an oil bath for the eccentric H<4> or other gear working the valves. 'The number of combustion chambers and compressors may be varied.
