Abstract

1457154 Pneumatic emptying of vessels AIR INDUSTRIE 17 June 1974 [18 June 1973] 26796/74 Heading B8A Fluidized powdered material is removed from a tank via plunger mechanism comprising a chamber which may be sealed from the powder in the tank while ejecting air is supplied to the chamber. The Figure shows a cross-section of a plunger in a tank 9. Powder in the tank 9 is fluidized via porous plate 10 and when air is not supplied through pipe 15 so that valve 14 is not inflated, the powder enters the chamber of plunger 12. Inflation of valve 14 seals the chamber from the powder in the tank 9, air is supplied via pipes 13 and 16 to eject and fluidize respectively the powder in the chamber and the powder/air mixture passes through pipe 8 to utilizing apparatus, e.g. powder-spray gun
