Abstract

1457188 Gas burners VENNOOTSCHAP ONDER FIRMA RODIAC 26 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973] 8648/74 Heading F4T A gas burner comprises a cast iron body 1 having an open upper side covered by one or more burner caps 3 of perforated metal plate and of arcuate cross-section. The caps are clamped to the body with a sealing element 6 therebetween by fixing elements. In the embodiment shown the elements are C-shaped clamps 8. The co-operating clamping edges and surfaces of the clamps, caps and body diverge in the direction P of fixing whereby the body and caps are clamped against each other by wedge action. A tongue 12 at one end of each clamp engages in a respective notch 13 in the body to lock the clamps. Transverse ridges 4 of the body support the opposed ends of the caps. The caps may be of stainless steel or inchromated steel. In an alternative embodiment, Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown), the open upper side of the body is covered by a single cap having flat longitudinal edges bolted to flat longitudinal faces on the body, the bolt holes through the cap being elongate to facilitate relative thermal expansions. The cap may comprise a number of longitudinally-spaced groups of transverse rows of perforations connected by one row or a group of rows of perforations extending along the longitudinal centre line of the cap, Fig. 7 (not shown).
