Abstract

1473086 Refrigerating HOWDEN COMPRESSORS Ltd 10 June 1974 [28 June 1973] 30912/73 Headings F4H and F4U In a refrigeration system comprising a compressor 1, a condenser 2, an expansion device 3 and an evaporator 4, a fluid line 7a extends from a point between the condenser and the expansion device for delivering a portion of the refrigerant from the condenser outlet to the compressor motor 5 to act as a cooling medium therefor. The refrigerant is wholly or partially vaporized in cooling the motor before passing into the compressor through an additional inlet. In a further embodiment, a vessel 6 is provided, Fig. 5, between the condenser and the expansion device and a liquid line 7a and/or a gas line 7b extends from the vessel to the compressor, the motor 5 being interposed in one of the lines. The system may include an oil separator 8 and an oil cooler 9 as described in Specification 1,473,085.
