Radiators, motor-car.-Air is introduced into direct contact with the cooling-water of internalcombustion engines for the purpose of cooling and/or assisting in the circulation of the water by means of a nozzle e inserted in the water inlet pipe f to the engine i. The air under pressure from a suitable source such as an air-pump or storage chamber is supplied to a pipe a and thence by branch pipes b, c, controlled by manuallyoperated valves d. The branch pipe c communicates with the pipe f, and the pipe b provides an additional air passage to permit auxiliary cooling of the water, and communicates with the bottom of the radiator, where the air escapes and passes upwards around baffle-plates arranged within the side tubes n of the radiator h. The air escapes to the atmosphere through a vent p.
