Abstract

10,557. Cranage, H. B. July 21. [Cognate Application, 16,424/15.] Sewing-machines; feed by dogs.-The feed is reversed for each third stitch, so as to produce a back stitch, by connecting the feed-reversing device with a lever n on a shaft g to which is imparted a suitable oscillation by a cam k making one revolution for every three stitches. The apparatus is arranged as an attachment to an ordinary machine. The cam may be replaced by a short link connecting a pin on the wheel i to a lever arm on the shaft g.
