Abstract

A louvre window security device has a base plate 10 which is fastened to a window frame. A bolt 16 is placed into the aperture of the louvre locking arm 22 and is screwed into a cylindrical nut 12 thus preventing movement of the louvre locking arm. The cylindrical nut 12 has external annular grooves 14 to provide a cutting guide if the body needs to be shortened. <IMAGE>

Description

LOUVRE WINDOW SECURITY DEVICE This invention relates to a louvre window security device.
Louvre :indows can be opened from outside the building by pushing a hooked netal bar between the louvres, engaging the hook in the locking arum, thence opening the window.
It is an aim of the present invention to provide a security device to prevent the louvres being opened from outside the building to avoid the aforementioned problem. As the distance from the louvres locking arm to the lining of the window frames vary, it is a further aim of the invention to provide a cutting guide for use if the user needs to shorten the body of the device to suit.
According to the present invention there is provided a louvre window security device comprising, a base plate for mounting the device onto a window frame, a body in the form of a cylinderical nut containing cutting guide means for use if it is neccessary to shorten the body, a plug bolt, and means for releasably securing the louvre locking arm to the device.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Fig 1 shows in front view the device mounted on a window frame.
Fig 2 shows in side view the louvre locking am secured to the device referring to the drawing the device comprises a base plate 10 a body in the form of a cylinderical nut 12 and a plug bolt 16.
In order to mount the device onto a window frame 20 the device is fastener with wood screws (not shown) via holes 18 to the window frame.
The cylinderical nut 12 is embodied with the base plate 10 and has an internal thread running throughout its length. The plug bolt 1.G is entered into the aperture of the louvre locking arm 22 and is screwed into the cylinderical nut thus preventing the louvre locking arm from being moved. n series of external annular grooves 14 are spaced along the cylindrical nut for use as a cutting guide if the cylinderical nut is required to be shortened.

Claims (3)

1. A louvre window security device comprises a base plate for mounting the device onto a window frame, a body in the forum of a cylinderical nut containing cutting guide means for shortening the body when neccessary, a plug bolt, and neans for releasably securing the louvre locking arm to the device.
2. A Louvre window security device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cutting guide means for shortening the body when neccessary are in the form of external annular grooves spaced along the length of the cylinderical nut.
3. A louvre window security device as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the means fer releasably securing the louvre locking artn is provided by way of the cylinderical nut having an internal thread and the plug bolt hawing an external thread.
4 A louvre window security device substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawing.
