Reels or bobbins. - Cardboard or like reels or bobbins for holding wire, electric cable, and the like formed with a hollow cardboard hub 3, a cardboard liner 4, and flanges 5 which may be of cardboard or of wood, are reinforced by metallic strips or wires 6 extending through the hub and turned over at the ends. A metallic sleeve may be substituted for the strips, the ends being spun over the flange; or lugs may be formed on the sleeve. The strips or lugs may be rivetted to the flanges. The strips or wires or the sleeve may be in two parts, the inner ends being secured to the hub.
