Abstract

283,224. Etablissements Air-SÚcuritÚ, (Assignees of Boyer, H. J.). Jan. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Induction pipes, fittings for. -- To prevent damage from backfiring, a series of parallel plates 6 are arranged axially in an enlarged portion 4 of the induction pipe adapted to be connected directly to the engine cylinder. The plates are secured together by one or more bolts 7 carrying spacing members 8, and are secured in position by a pin or pins 9 passing through bosses on the induction pipe. The pins 9 may be adapted to hold the plates in the correct relative position, in which case the bolts 7 are dispensed with. Holes may be provided in the plates, the edges of the holes being preferably bevelled or otherwise arranged to produce a sharp edge or tongue facing the direction of flow of the mixture.
