Abstract

300,700. Lovejoy, N. E. Aug. 19, 1927. Rackets.-In a method of stringing a lawn ten. nis or like racket, the mains and/or transverse strings are reinforced by two purl strings applied to the same main or transverse string, the loops of the purls of each purl string projecting from opposite faces of the racket. In adding the reinforcement the first purl string 1 is applied as shown in Fig. 1, with the loops engaging both the transverse and longitudinal strings 2, 3. The racket is now turned over and the second purl string 4, Fig. 2, is similarly applied, the loops thus projecting from opposite faces. The purls are laid on in the same sense, i.e., both righthanded or both left-handed. The reinforcement may be applied to all the strings or to selected strings only.
