Lubricant conveyed by mechanical Means. - Lubricant collected in a scoop formed in the periphery of the crank web of an internal-combustion engine and adapted to dip into lubricant in the crank chamber passes to the crank-pin bearing through a lateral aperture. A groove 7 extends from the dealing edge 8 of the web and terminates in an undercut portion forming the scoop 10. As shown, the groove is formed at the side of the web, so that one side of the groove is open to the end of the connecting-rod 6, which fits closely against the web, whereby lubricant can pass direct from the scoop to the bearing 5.
