Abstract

309,376. Rhodes, A. J. Nov. 26, 1928. Wire resistances, mounted on frames.- Resistance wire is wound between opposing rows of insulating bobbins 13 mounted on a base plate or frame formed in two parts 5, 6 flexibly connected along a longitudinal axis and capable of separation in such a manner as to tighten the wire by a device which expands with rise in temperature of the wire.. As described, two metal plates are hinged together and have arcuate brass strips 16 at each end which tend to bring the plates into alignment on heating. The resistance wire 11 is passed around twopart bobbins, comprising a sleeve 17 and flanged plug 18 between which the wire is gripped. In a modified form the hinges between the plates are replaced by a fold or rib in a single sheet of metal.
