Abstract
311,576. Highfield, J. S., and Highfield, W. E. June 14, 1928. Valves fitted with independently actuated supplementary valves.-A large valve for high-pressure steam is provided with a bye-pass containing a bye-pass valve adapted to be opened full bore in a single operation and with one or more regulating valves capable of being held open to variable extent. In the form shown in the Figure, the bye-pass valve 5 is adapted to be operated by compressed air acting on a piston connected to the spindle 6. Two conical regulating valves 9, 10 are fitted, both opening towards the bye-pass valve and both fitted with stops 13, 14 adjusted by hand-wheels 15, 16 to prevent the valve members completely closing against the circular seats 11. 12.
