Catalytic agents.-In the cracking or destructive hydrogenation of hydrocarbon oils, metal compounds of 1.3- diketones are used as catalysts, singly, in admixtures, or with other catalysts. In examples, the catalyst is a mixture of vanadyl- and of nickelacetylacetonates, or a mixture of aluminium and of chromiumacetylacetonates. The nickel compound is obtained by interaction of nickelous hydroxide and acetylacetone.
