Abstract

367,358. Filters. SEELEY, F. G., Capel St. Mary, Ipswich. Nov. 17, 1930, No. 34510. [Class 46.] Filter or strainer elements are cleansed by rotation in contact with fixed scrapers and a flow of treated liquid forced backward through the elements by a pump. Hollow filter elements 2 are mounted in contact with a fixed scraper bar 13 in the lowest chamber of a casing. The spindles project into an intermediate chamber and are provided with wheels 4 gearing with a wheel 3 on a central spindle 9. The spindle is provided with a pump vane 9a in a top chamber and a handle 15 outside the casing. Liquid passes from an inlet 1 through the filter elements into the intermediate chamber, which is divided into two compartments by diametric webs, the compartments communicating respectively through passages 7a, 7b, with compartments into which the top chamber is normally divided by the vane 9 and a stop piece 10. The top chamber has an outlet 12. On partial rotation of the spindle the vane 9 forces liquid back from one compartment of the upper chamber through the elements connected therewith and the elements are at the same time rotated against the bar 13.
