Abstract

371,064. Cartons for cigarettes &c. HARTMANN, C. W., Lyngby, near Copenhagen. Jan. 27, 1931, No. 2646. [Classes 18 and 66.] A tubular carton with end-closing flaps is formed with a crease 2 across one of the flaps 8 and a line of slits or a weakened line 5 extending across one side 4 of the carton, around two corners, and partly along the sides adjacent the side 4 to the ends of the crease 2 so that by breaking the end of the carton along the line 5, a hinged lid 1 is produced. As shown the blank from which the carton is formed is provided with a non-porous lining 10 pasted thereto and formed with trapezoidal recesses between inclined edges 11 adjacent the narrow end flaps 9 of the blank. The lining has to be broken before access can be had to the contents. A flexible strip 17, laid upon or pasted to the base of the carton, may be provided to raise cigarettes &c. exposed through the opening formed when the lid 1 is lifted and the end 18 of the strip may partly close such opening.
