Abstract
393,992. Printing-machines. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK FRANKENTHAL ALBERT ET CIE AKT.-GES., Frankenthal, Pfalz, Germany. Dec. 17, 1931, No. 34953. Convention date, April 20. [Class 100 (ii).] Rotary intaglio machines.-Relates to a rotary machine of the kind in which two or more printing-couples B, C are arranged in tandem and are provided with feed piles 1, 3 and delivery piles 2, 4, so that separate sheets may be printed by each couple, or alternatively the printed sheet from the couple B may be fed by a conveyer device 16 to the second couple C so as to receive a multiple impression on one side. According to the invention, a sheet-removing device 20 may be put into action if desired so as to cause the couple C to perfect the sheet printed by the couple B. Additional couples may be used so that the machine may print more than two colours on one side of a sheet, or may print perfected impressions with one alone on one side and several on the other, or with two colours on each side. Normally the sheets are taken from the impression cylinder 7 of couple B by means of chains 10, driven at the same speed as the couple B, and a transfer cylinder 11 transfers the sheet to grippers 13 on chains 12 driven at half the speed of the chains 10. The chains 12 can either deliver the sheet to a pile 2 or to a conveying device 16 which forwards the sheet to the couple C directly, or after the sheet has been reversed by the device 20 which comprises a chain-and-gripper device driven at the same speed as the chains 12. The delivery device 16 comprises a horizontal conveyer 18 and pivoted conveyers 17, 19, which can be swung into vertical positions out of action, and the reversing device 20 may be thrown out of gear and raised to the inoperative position shown by dotted lines.
