Abstract
<PICT:0394033/III/1> Gypsum is roughly ground and then simultaneously ground and dehydrated in a heated ball mill. Plaster of Paris is obtained at temperatures of about 300 DEG F., and the remaining water of crystallization may be removed by using higher temperatures. The ball mill a may be enclosed in a brick chamber d so that it may be easily heated, or alternatively it may be jacketed. Steam is removed through a tube e, the inner end e<2> of which is bent upwardly as shown.
