Abstract
395,441. Transformers. CHAPMAN, A. E., 125, Stanley Park Road, Carshalton, Surrey. Feb. 17, 1932, No. 4753. [Class 38 (ii).] A leaky transformer for supplying gaseous discharge tubes and for similar purposes where a limited current output is required comprises a core structure in two parts which may be assembled in a number of different relationships in each of which there is formed a complete magnetic circuit for the main flux and a circuit containing air gaps for the leakage flux, the length of the air gaps depending upon'the particular relationship selected. The core comprises an outer frame b and an inner member a carrying the windings. The member a has laterally-extending arms a<1>, a<2> forming leakage flux paths. Air gaps e<1>, e<2>, e<3>, or e<4> are formed between the ends of the arms and the frame b, the latter being cut away in such manner that the gaps formed in the various positions of the inner member with respect to the frame are of different lengths.
