Abstract

415,776. Vacuum - cleaner nozzles. McCARDLE, L. F., Welbeck House, Durweston Mews, Crawford Street, London. March 2, 1933, No. 6391. [Class 8 (i).] A vacuum cleaner suction nozzle is formed in two parts relatively movable, each part forming an effective nozzle. The outer nozzle a has a central recess in which a hollow block h forming an inner nozzle can slide vertically. Springs surrounding rods n on the inner nozzle normally hold this nozzle off the floor, but it can be pressed down on the floor by pressure on the handle g. The inner nozzle carries a brush x, and the outer nozzle has a slot w providing an air jet which assists in cleaning the floor, and in keeping the brush clean.
