[Class 38 (iv)] [See also Group XXXVII] Relates to an electromagnetic regulator of the type in which resilient contact strips D secured to a rigid armature plate C are successively moved away from their countercontacts G by an opening plate 4 also secured to the armature which is biassed by a spring J. The regulator is provided with an additional spring N operative only at the end of the stroke of the armature when it is nearest to the core B and when it is about to open the contacts which short circuit the largest resistance step in the field circuit of a dynamo, so as to increase the force opposing the magnetic pull on the armature, a nose M is also provided on the armature C operative at the end of the return stroke to press together the contacts which short circuit the largest resistance and which were closed at the commencement of the return stroke.
