Abstract
425,697. Cutting paper, card, and like material. MILLER, P. S., and MILLER, F. A., Hitchin Road, Luton. Sept. 26, 1933, No. 26510. [Class 31 (i)] In a rotary cutter for sheet material comprising two overlapping circular knives mounted in holders on parallel shafts and having means for adjusting the pressure between the knives, one knife, carried by the shaft z<1>, is passed over a reduced portion of its holder and pressed against the other knife by a ring e<1> bearing resilient projections g, and a nut k screwed on to the reduced portion of the holder. The members g comprise arcuate strips of springy metal, struck to the same radius as the ring and proprojecting at an angle to its face in notches f. The pressure on the knife is adjustable from zero upwards until, if desired, the knife is held rigidly against the shoulder b of its holder, by means of the nut k which may be locked in any position by a set-screw l, the screw-threads being relieved at that part on which the setscrew bears. The other knife, carried by the shaft z, may be rigidly held, as shown, against the shoulder b on its holder by a plain ring e and a nut k, which may also be locked by a set-screw l, or the knife may be resiliently held in the same manner as the knife on the shaft z<1>.
