Abstract

473,189. Electric heaters for hairwaving. SMITH, S. April 3, 1936, No. 9847. [Class 39 (iii)] In a tubular type electric heater for hairwaving, an electric resistance is slidably mounted on the tube B of the heater and can be readily detached therefrom after the cover C of the heater is unscrewed from the base A. The resistance element is formed by winding mica on a thin tubular copper former, then winding resistance wire thereon, and then winding on further mica. The end M of the former is spun over the mica wrapping to seal the element and exclude moisture. The element is provided with an end flange K which carries spring contacts that co-operate with the current connection studs H on the base of the heater. Specification 467,977 is referred to.
