Abstract

475,648. Kinematograph apparatus. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.) May 20, 1936, No. 14329. Addition to 466,116. [Class 97 (i)] In a reversible magazine of the type described in the parent Specification, a single shutter is movable to two positions only so as to close one or other of the exposure apertures alternatively ; the shutter also closes alternatively two slots in the magazine through which the film advancing mechanism engages the film. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the magazine has exposure apertures B<1>, B<2> closed alternatively by a flexible strip shutter C movable between a guide D and the outer casing. The ends of the shutter are recessed at C<3>, C' and the shutter is of such a length that when the aperture B<1> is uncovered the recess C<3> uncovers the slot B<3> and the aperture B<2> and slot B<4> are closed. On rotating the magazine about a vertical axis and replacing it in the camera to expose the other half of the film, the shutter may be moved manually to its other position where the aperture B<2> and slot B<4> are uncovered, or such movement may be automatically effected by the locking mechanism of the camera cover A<2> which comprises a sliding bar E having a projection E<4> to engage a stud C<5> on the shutter C and lugs E<1> engaging corresponding hooks E<2> on the cover. Fig. 4 shows a magazine in which the exposure apertures G<1>, G<2> are located in the same wall and are closed alternatively by a rigid strip H having openings H<1> and H<2> to co-operate with the apertures G<1>, G<2> respectively and recesses H<3>, H<4> to co-operate with film-advancing slots G<3>, G<4>. Pins H<5>, H<6> attached to the strip H pass through slots G<5>, G<6> and allow the shutter to be moved manually or by a sliding bar which locks the camera cover. The magazine is rotated about a horizontal axis to expose both halves of the film. In a modification, Fig. 6, the halves of a single aperture L<1> are uncovered alternatively by openings M<1>, M<2> in a sliding shutter M having recesses M<3>, M<4> to uncover the corresponding film-advancing slots L<3>, L<4>. The shutter may be moved by a knob M<5> and carries ratchet teeth M<6> held against a spring pawl L<5> by a spring L<6> to prevent re-exposure of an exposed half of the film. A stud L7 permits manual disengagement of the pawl.
