Abstract
479,240. Forming slivers of coconut fibre. JAGT, B. G. H. VAN DER. Feb. 3, 1937, No. 3230. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1936. [Class 120 (iii)] In the preparation of coconut fibre for formation into sliver the fibre, without preliminary treatment with alkali, is treated with a binding or adhesive material, e.g. starch water or rubber latex. The fibres are then partially dried to the desired degree and formed into a sliver on a carding-engine and drawing-frame. A dry adhesive powder may alternatively be used, while the fibre may be dyed, impregnated or bleached before treatment with adhesive. Specification 313,016, [Class 120 (iii)], is referred to.
