Abstract

479,891. Centrifugal separators. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-. Aug. 13, 1936, No. 13772/37. Divided out of 479,872. [Class 23] The material supplied to a centrifugal machine for separating solids and liquids, is fed through a fixed pipe 11 extending to the inner ends of passages 13 which conduct the material to the space between the rotating bodies 1, 4. A twisted partition strip 12 divides the pipe 11 into two helical passages to impart an initial rotary motion to the material. The passages 13 are arranged in pairs, diametrically opposite each other, and they are arranged at different angles to the separator axis so that they terminate at various levels on the periphery of the conical part of the body 1. The ends 15 of the passages are shaped so that the material leaves with a tangential as well as a radial velocity. The body 1 rotates at a different speed from that of the body 4 and carries an helical conveyer 14 constructed as described in Specification 479,872, to assist the separated components to reach the discharge outlets 16, 17.
