Abstract

508,312. Boxes. CHALMERS, J. W., and MOLINS MACHINE, CO., Ltd. Dec. 28, 1937, No. 35901. [Class.18] In a box comprising a relatively deep body portion and a lid each of four-sided, rectilinear, box-like form, wherein the front and back walls 17, 12 of the body are substantially parallel and form the longer sides of the body and the back wall 6 of the lid is hinged at 13 to the back wall 12, the front wall 5 of the lid is deeper than the back wall 6 and a projection 28 on the lid co-operates with the body to keep the lid closed. The projection 28 is inserted behind or into a slot in the front wall 17. The front wall 5 is shown reinforced by a portion 14 which is bent over and secured to 'the inside thereof. An insert divides the box into two and provides flaps 29, 30 which protect the contents. A liner 36 of aluminium or other foil extends from the top of the wall 17 to the lid wall 5 and may also lie against the wall 5. To facilitate access to the contents (e.g. cigarettes or crayons) a supplementary hinge may be formed by a score line in the back 12 parallel to hinge 13. A picture or coupon may be inserted between the wall 17 and the liner. The portions 15, 16, 23 and 24 of the blank may be omitted. The Provisional Specification refers to Specification 507,998.
