Abstract
522,646. Medicinal preparations. I.G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Dec. 16, 1938, No. 36741. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1937. [Class 81 (i)] [Also in Group IV] Aqueous medicinal preparations having high calcium content are prepared from sparing- ly soluble or almost insoluble calcium salts by dissolving them in the presence of a salt of ethylene-diamine-tetraacetic acid. Sufficient alkaline substances are added if necessary to render the solution approximately neutral ; suitable substances are alkalies, magnesium oxide, di- or tri-ethylamine, ethylene diamine, piperazine, diethanolamine, diethylaminoethanol. Suitable calcium salts are those of aliphatic acids such as gluconic, arabonic, tartaric, citric, lactic, saccharic acids and also those of inorganic acids such as phosphoric, silicic and sulphuric. The salts of ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid may be those of the alkalies or the other bases above mentioned ; double salts are probably formed with the calcium compounds.
