Abstract
533,410. Plate heat exchangers. MICKELSEN, V., and REBBECK, F. E. Nov. 6, 1939, No. 29433, [Class 64 (iii)] In a cooler for oil or other liquid comprising a number of superposed spaced circular hollow plates 3, the spaces 8 in the plates open into inlet and outlet passages 11, 12 formed by superposed hollow lugs 11c, 12c integral with, the plates and the spaces 7 between the plates open into a central passage 10 and into a peripheral passage 9 formed by a third set of superposed integral lugs 9c. The jointing flanges 13 between the plates merge into the jointing faces of the lugs 9c and are spaced from the annular jointing faces of the lugs 11c, 12c to leave openings 16 through which any oil leaking from the spaces 7 may flow away without entering the joints between the lugs 11c and 12c. Both the spaces 7 between the plates and the spaces 8 in the plates may be provided with circular baffles. The surfaces forming the spaces 7 may be corrugated.
