Abstract

560,513. Boots &c. DARBY, A. J. Feb. 1, 1943, No. 1644. [Classes 17 (ii) and 17 (iii)] A sole or combined sole and heel comprises a flexible sheet metal &c. base plate 1, to which, at the forepart are secured a number of channel members 7 in which are fitted tread blocks 4 of wood, rubber &c. extending' transversely across the full width of the sole. At. the. heel, in the case of a combined sole and heel, a block 23 is secured by screws extending through slots in the flanged portion of a socket member 20 so as to provide for a slight amount of play against the action of a spring 26. The base plate 1 may be dispensed with and the tread blocks 4 and channel members 7 secured direct to the sole of the boot. Specification 560,218 is referred to.
