Abstract
561,837. Rontgen-ray tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 7, 1942, No. 11034. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] An X-ray tube has a number of glass sections 19 joined by metal rings 21 carrying lens electrodes of various forms which concentrate the electron beam and prevent it from striking the envelope. In Fig. 2 each electrode is a disc 49 carrying tubular extensions 39, 47, the smaller tube 47 projecting within the larger tube 39 of the next electrode, or the extension 60 of the anode tube 29 ; at the cathode end the cathode projects into the nearest electrode 39. In Fig. 3, the tube 39 is midway through the disc 49 and carries the smaller tube 47 on one of its ends. In Fig. 4, a single tube 39 is used. The tubes are connected to disc 49 by angularly spaced lugs and screws. each disc having apertures correspondingly spaced to the lugs so that a tube can be inserted from one end through all the intervening discs before being turned to bring the lugs opposite the screw holes.
