Abstract

567,905. Thrust bearings. LUCAS, O. D. Sept. 2, 1943, No. 14305. [Class 12 (i)] Thrust bearings comprise a sleeve 1 secured to a shaft and provided with an intermediate flange 3 received in recesses 6 in race-rings 4, 5 held together by a cage 7. The rings 4, 5 may be made of a plastic such as a phenol-formaldehyde resin having a filler of wood-flour and slate dust. The sleeve 1 is made of steel which is rustless or is casehardened and chromium plated. The cage 7 has flanges 8, one of which is preformed before assembly and the other one afterwards spun over. The racerings and sleeve may be treated with colloidal graphite, or the rings may have radial slots 9 in register with a lubricant hole 10 in the cage.
