Abstract
582,486. Velocity-modulated tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., KINMAN, T. H., and DAVIES, L. J. Dec. 8, 1941, No. 15796. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] In a velocity-modulated electron discharge tube of the type wherein the gap 5 through which the beam passes is formed between two diaphragms 9, 10 whose outer rims are outside the walls of the envelope 2, these outer rims are formed into or attached to cylinders 12, 13 of different diameters ; the cylinders are coupled by a twodiametered sleeve 16 which is adjustable to vary the resonance frequency. The ends of the sleeve may be slitted to grip the cylinders 12, 13.
