Abstract

586,878. Tractor-travelled ploughs. DUNGAIT, A. H. July 11, 1944, No. 13265. [Class 6 (i)] Ridge-splitting ploughs are carried in advance of a tractor by side bars rigidly attached to the tractor and provided with bearings at their forward ends in which a transverse tool bar, carrying plough units, is pivotally mounted. In the form shown, the two side bars a, fixed to a tractor b, are provided at their forward ends with bearing blocks c which constitute a pivotal mounting for a transverse tool bar d. On this bar are mounted three implement holders, each of which comprises a frame h carrying double-breasted ploughs v or other cultivating tools, the outer frames being supported on land wheels y. Both the tools and the wheels are separately adjustable for height to vary the depth of working. A transverse. spacing bar t provides added rigidity for the structure and allows the entire tool assembly to be lifted about the blocks c through the operation of a lever q and cables o<SP>1</SP>, o<SP>2</SP> passing over pulleys on a shaft m. The bearing blocks c are open at the front, the tool bar being retained in position by pins g the removal of which allows the easy dismounting of the tool bar when not required.
