Abstract

608,223. Making tubes. BARRA, N. April 16, 1945, Nos. 9505 and 9506. Convention dates, Aug. 5, 1942, and April 2, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXI] Tubes for cycle frames have a section which gradually increases in one transverse direction and decreases in a transverse direction at right angles to it from one end of the tube to the other. Originally, the tubes may have been either cylindrical, conical or bi-conical. They are flattened so as to be oblong in section, for example, they may be elliptical or rectangular. The flattening increases from one end of the tube to the other in a certain plane and in the opposite direction in a perpendicular plane. Fillings.-The flattening process may be carried out by hammering on a lead mandrel.
