Abstract

611,266. Powder puffs. TAYLER, N., (trading as MARTIN SUPPLY CO.), and AUSTIN, A. H. April 25, 1946, No. 12561. [Class 131] A powder puff comprises a casing having a closable opening and a rotatable spindle on which a pad can be wound. As shown in Fig. 1 the casing comprises two cylindrical, slotted members 1, 2 and a spindle 5 slotted at 7 to receive a tape 8 on which a pad 9 is mounted. After use the spindle is rotated by either of the knobs 6 to wind the tape and pad on the spindle, the tabs 10 being left protruding from the casing. The cylinder 1 is then rotated on the cylinder 2 to bring the slots out of register and close the casing. A releasable pawl and ratchet allowing winding of the pad on the spindle in only one direction and a stop to prevent over-winding may be provided.
