Abstract

616,151. Conveyers; load-handling apparatus. LARSSON, K. G. Aug. 29, 1946, No. 25982. [Classes 78 (i)] and 78 (iii)] [Also in Group II] Mechanical handling means for use in apparatus for treating goods by dipping them into liquid comprises a track on to which a plurality of carriers for the goods are moved by a lateral sliding movement, and means for lowering and raising the track so as to dip the carriers simultaneously into the liquid for treating the goods. In the embodiment shown, metal articles to be degreased are placed in perforated baskets A which are dipped into receptacles 2, 3, 4 containing degreasing liquid such as trichlorethylene, the baskets being supported by flanges 13 on plates 5 which are carried on rods 7 fixed to a yoke 8 reciprocated by a piston 12 operating in a fluid-pressure cylinder 11. The baskets are fed one-by-one through the apparatus, being placed on a platform 15 from which they are pushed on to the adjacent plate 5 by a pusher 17 reciprocated by a piston 20 operating in a fluid-pressure cylinder 19, the basket on this plate being pushed on to the adjacent plate. The basket carried by the last plate 5 is discharged on to a ramp 15a up which they are fed to an exit channel 16. In another embodiment the plates 5 are actuated individually.
