[Class 140] [Also in Group XXIX] Woven fabric, the fibres of which are of colddrawn polyamide, has the interstices closed with a polyamide interpolymer. The fabric may also be coated with a polyamide interpolymer. The polyamides capable of being cold-drawn are characterised by a linear structure of regularly recurring like units whereas the interpolyamides have a linear structure of unlike units. The interpolyamides and polyamides are prepared by known methods such as the condensation of diamines and dicarboxylic acids or the condensation of monoamino-monocarboxylic acids, the interpolymers being obtained by using mixtures of acids or amines of different chain length. Many examples of acids and amines are given. The interpolyamides may be applied to the fabric by calendering or as a solution dissolved in a suitable solvent, e.g. ethyl alcohol, and the solvent removed. The treated fabric may be heat sealed and used for making containers.
