Abstract

631,929. Seats. WILLIAMS, H. A. Jan. 2, 1948, No. 125. [Class 52 (ii)] A vehicle seat is adjustable horizontally by being supported, at least in part, upon the circular surface or edge of a sector &c. which sector is rotatable and is coupled to the seat or seat frame. As shown a subframe 5 is supported at its front part by sectors 11 and at its rear part by rollers 12 movable along fixed guides carried by a support 9 in which the sectors 11 are pivoted by means of a hollow shaft 15. The sectors 11 are connected to the sub-frame by means of cables 21, 22 one cable 21 causing forward movement of the sub-frame when the shaft 15 is rotated in one direction and the other cable causing rearward movement on rotation of the shaft 15 in the opposite direction. The shaft 15 is provided with a handle 17 by which it may be rotated, means, consisting of a pin 32 and a series of slots 33 being provided whereby the subframe may be locked in any adjusted position. The seat-frame 1 is mounted on the sub-frame 5 by means of plates 40 having inclined slots 41, a screw 49 and handle operating rollers engaging the slots causing the seat frame 1 to be vertically adjustable.
